This DVD will take you by rail to many of Switzerland’s most beautiful places; towns, lakes and mountains. To the Bernese Oberland, Brienz, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and on the Jungfraubahn to the “summit of Europe”with its magnificent views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. From Luzern we will visit Pilatus and Rigi, and the monastery of Einsiedeln. We pass through Geneva, Montreux, Gruyères, Fribourg and the horse spectacular of Saignelégier in the Jura. In Wallis our journey takes us to the Lötschental, Sion and the Glacier Express to Zermatt, and on the Gornergrat to view the Matterhorn. On the border of Wallis and Uri we cross the Furka pass to Hospental. Here we take both car and historic coach over the Gotthard to Ticino where we visit the Verzasca valley via Bellinoza, Ascona and Lugano. We also take a trip on the Centovallibahn. In the largest canton of Switzerland, Graubünden, we visit Chur, Arosa, the Rheindal, St Moritz, Pontresina and the famous monastery in Müstair. In Schaffhausen the Rhine transforms into the largest waterfall of Europe while “hoch-nebel” high altitude mist creates beautiful images in Säntis and Appenzell. Images of both summer and winter will pass before you. The DVD also contains some 10 minutes of extra material picturing Swiss Railways, the pleasures of winter sports and the beauties of golden Swiss autumns.

This is not strictly a rail film but a travelogue that includes rail and boat as part of the itinerary. It has been beautifully shot on a budget that reflects the potential for a much larger market then rail enthusiasts alone! I wish….
