TTR29-2 Cologne to Duisburg Cabride+ in TTR29-1 we traveled with IC 614 from Koblenz. We are now in Cologne and have the opportunity for a quick look at the city, its trams, the Südbrücke, naturally the Hbf and the Messe on the Deutz side where the world’s largest railway exhibition takes place. Back at the Hbf with IC 614 we continue our run north by easing out and onto the famous Hohenzollernbrücke. Six tracks across the Rhine and 3,000 train movements a day! Through Deutz, a station awaiting a major change of fortune, and out of the city through the tangle of lines near Mülheim. It’s a multi track 200kph line north from here and there is lots of activity. Our next stop is Düsseldorf-the business city of the Niederrhein, where we have the chance to have a look at the impressive LRT system and look down upon the modern tramway from the vantage point of the telecom tower. North of Düsseldorf we pause at the recently completed InterCity airport station, part of which actually lies under the runway! It’s another multi road race track towards Duisberg, and we race -and eventually get the better of an ICE heading for Berlin! A fascinating and VERY busy run. The cab scenes were shot in fine spring weather June 2002 and the film is narrated by Phyllis Watts. RT 60 mins
