TTR54 Welcome to Norway! We are going to undertake one of the world’s great railway journies: the 500 km from Norway’s capital Oslo to its second city Bergen. The first section takes us through busy suburban Oslo to Asker then through the Lieråsen tunnel to the port town of Drammen.  There’s new infrastructure ready to be brought into use around Lysaker as the NSB has plans to double the capacity of the route with a highspeed line coming on stream.

Drammen is Norway’s premier car import terminal and we pass the distinctive wagons before crossing the dramatic Drammenfjord.  We pass many commuter trains en route including the new order from Breda in Italy, Lok2000s, like our own head end power,  and Agenda units - the NSB’s latest. From Drammen we head north alongside the Drammenselva and pass Green Cargo Rcs hauling a heavy paper train near Vikersund.  The run to the end of the first section of our run at HØnefoss is along side the Tyrifjorden - beautiful!
