TTR74 ÖBB EC Part 3  Linz to Salzburg Cabride+  This section of our run has two quite distinct parts. As far as Wels where there is a RoLa and container terminal, it’s as busy as the section to Linz.  Just beyond Wels the line to Germany via Passau leaves us and with it much of the long distance freight.  The nature of the freight business changes, as west of Wels there is plenty of local freight with even small towns having lineside facilities for us to view: saw mills, agricultural businesses and food factories, sometimes it’s just a single wagon of this or that! Most of the passenger trains remain with us while the countryside becomes hilly and very attractive.  The route is in the process of considerable upgrading - modern sections are interspersed with sections that do not seem to have changed in 20 years!  As we enter Salzburg County we see the new Electro-Talents employed S-Bahn style around the city. Then we are in Salzburg- the time has flown by!
