In this issue our major article is: “France to Germany - the Mosel Line. There is far more cooperation between the DB and the SNCF than you may imagine! Between Trier and Koblenz you are just as likely to see a FRET SNCF Prima as anything from RAILION. There is an abundance of freight: cars, steel, scrap, chemicals, grain and general wagonload galore. This is the last year for the venerable and distinctive dual voltage class 181, for next year the TRAXX will replace them. We see them in blue and the now standard red on duty on international express trains. At Koblenz we see the confluence of the Mosel and Rhein and admire the post NBS traffic. Our second feature contrasts a pair of Trans-Alpine rail routes, the Semmering in Austria and the Lötschberg in Switzerland. These main features are supported by: Intermodellbau Bremen and a cabride on Scandinavia’s fastest scheduled train - the Norwegian Flytoget. RT 65 mins
