TTR1.” Hong Kong is the first in a series of Video Guides to places of interest to business travellers, tourists and those with an interest in all forms of transport, but particularly rail travel. Each programme tells a little of the story of the area or country visited, highlights features of particular interest but concentrates on helping potential visitors get around, where posible using public transport. The guide should appeal to all travellers who wish to be a little more intrepid on their next visit, to meet the locals and to get to know the area. The guide is in sections and in Hong Kong we cover: Getting from the airport to the “down town area” using the new Airport Express, navigate our way through the mainly British built MTR (Mass Transit Railway), travel by double deck tramcar through the streets of Hong Kong Island, explore the New Territories using the KCR (Kowloon Canton Railway), sail on, perhaps the worlds most famous ferry-The Star Ferry, enjoy the views from The Peak courtesy of the Peak Tramway and view the famous harbour. We can also watch, -in amazement?- the activities at the KCR freight terminal at Hung Hom, and finally we travel into the Peoples Republic to visit Guangdong (Canton) on the ktt “InterCity” through train. Future developments are not ignored. Ticket to Ride looks at the future of rail transport both in the former colony and at the links that are being forged with China Rail. RT 40 mins
